Island of Spirits
The island of Bali is renowned for its captivating blend of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and deep spiritual traditions. Balinese Hinduism, a unique form of Hinduism infused with animism and ancestor worship, shapes every facet of life on the island. Animism is the belief that there is no separation between the spiritual and physical worlds, and that spirits exist not only in humans but in animals, plants, and all other parts of nature. The Balinese understand that because they live off the land, and that the land encompasses all that is spirit, a respect and reverence for nature is needed to maintain balance in the world.
All I can say is, to see is to believe. And during my time there, I found myself truly enchanted by the island’s mystical ambiance, where, as they say. . . “the veil between the seen and the unseen is thin, and the presence of the sacred is felt in every corner.”
